Sad-looking roses…

The other day, I was buying some flowers for an event. I was trying to find the bunches that had the most color and looked “perfect.” Then I came across these somewhat sad-looking roses. I almost passed them up because why would I pay for sad roses?

Then I decided they would look beautiful spread across a walkway to my event. So I chose them, along with some of the other bouquets. I didn’t ask for a discount either because these flowers were just as valuable to me as the others. I needed them to create an arrival that would make others feel loved and valued. 

Then, it made me pause to think about myself and even others. How often do we compare ourselves to others, thinking we don’t measure up? We believe we are worthless or less valuable because we don’t look a certain way or have certain gifts. But in reality, we are valuable and gifted when we follow our destiny. 

It’s like the saying, “Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid."  

No one besides you can determine your value, and no one else on this earth can determine your destiny. You—your soul chose this journey. You have a specific purpose, and you have been anointed with the exact gifts to fulfill it. 

So you may feel like sad-looking roses in a display full of perfectly shaped bouquets. But your destiny and purpose isn’t to be a bouquet. Maybe you ended up in this place because you were bunched in with those around you or were told that is what all flowers do. But maybe your destiny was to create a beautiful pathway that would make someone’s arrival feel regal. To create an environment that would let others feel loved and confident. 

No matter the circumstances, there is a value and purpose in you. When you follow the path your soul chose, you can feel it. You will know because it was already written for you. You will see how life can be meaningful and beautiful, and you will see your own value. You won’t have to wait for others to see your beauty. You will feel the beauty shining from the inside, shining from your soul, who is living their truth. 

So, if you ever feel like you don’t belong or have no gifts or value, just look around. Chances are you were meant to fly freely on this pathway of life and not meant to be just a bouquet.
